Good evening, everyone. It has been a while since my last Youtube upload and I basically took a break from all social media since August 2019. The truth is: I was having health issues and therefore I couldn't work on any piano covers for months.
But fortunately, I have recovered and I started to practice the piano regularly again since last week.
Due to the long pause, I almost forgot how to arrange piano music. Therefore I started from the scratch: I began practicing classical piano pieces again from the baroque to the late romantic era, in order to "get my feeling for piano music" back, as well as trying to recover my dexterity of both of my hands.
The result is this classical-style arrangement of the Opening song from the Fall 2017 Anime Series "Mahoutsukai no Yome." (魔法使いの嫁 or The Ancient Magus' Bride)
I am particularly fond of Chopin's piano compositions and you can clearly hear his infuence in this particular piano arrangement. Chromatic runs, "fake notes in scales", utilizing double notes in fast runs, and so on.
My biggest challenge was that Key change from E minor to Eb minor after the 1st chorus (01:42 - 02:00). I don't really like key changes without any transitions and therefore I created an alternative cadenza from E minor to Eb minor within 8 bars.
Since the original song abruptly ends around 04:52, I decided to "complete" the melody phrase by adding a new Coda at the end.
The Coda contains musical elements from both the chorus and the bridge (03:36 - 03:57), in order to deliver a concluding finale.
Unlike my usual "original endings", this coda turned out unusually pessimistic. Perhaps... because of my experience in the last month.
I just want to say, I am still thankful, that I can continue playing the piano and I hope I can continue doing this as long as I can.
